Where Motion shines
Motion is impressive. You give it your tasks, deadlines and priorities, and it works out what you should do and when, then puts it on your calendar. When a new meeting lands or a task isn’t done, it re-plans on its own. If a deadline is at risk, it pulls the work earlier or flags it. Meetings always win, and tasks fit around them.
It’s a whole work app too: projects, docs and notes, an AI chat, an AI notetaker and booking links, with Gantt charts, dashboards, capacity planning and time tracking on the Business plan. It connects to Google and Outlook calendars, and there are apps for the web, desktop, iPhone and Android. Have a look at usemotion.com.
If you run projects with a team and want the scheduling done for you, Motion is a strong choice.
Where Yoodoo is different
Motion is built for work. Yoodoo is built for your whole day, and for an ADHD brain in particular. The dentist, the school run, the laundry, the gym: all of it lands on one timeline, with the free gaps you can see and tap.
We also do the things that keep you on the plan once it’s made. The app blocker locks the apps that eat your day, on a schedule or while you focus. We couldn’t find app blocking in Motion. The focus timer is in Lite, the free version. And habits forgive you: miss a day and your run keeps going, as long as it isn’t two in a row.
Ask Yoodoo plans your day when you just say it, files things into lists and breaks big tasks into tiny steps. It’s not a project manager, and that’s deliberate. Less to set up means more chance you’ll still be using it next month.
When your day falls apart
Both apps take this seriously, in different ways.
Motion re-plans for you, all the time, in the background. For some people that’s perfect. For others, opening your calendar to find everything has moved is its own kind of stress.
Yoodoo asks first. Fix my day notices when something runs over or doesn’t start, asks you one simple question about what happened, then fits the rest of the day around it. Meetings and locked things never move. Your most important task is protected. If it’s two moves or fewer, it just does it with an Undo. More than that, you see the next two hours first and tap Looks right. It’s in Lite, for free.
Price
Motion has no free plan, just a free trial. Its pricing page shows Pro AI at $19 a seat a month billed yearly, which is $228 a year, and Business AI at $29. Prices are higher if you pay monthly or sign up on your own, so check their page for your case.
Yoodoo Pro is $59.99 a year, $7.99 a month, or $149.99 once for lifetime. Everyone gets Pro free for their first week. After that Lite is free for good, with the timeline, Fix my day and the focus timer. See Pro.
Switching from Motion
- Bring your calendar in. Google Calendar and the calendars on your phone both work.
- Brain dump your tasks into a list. Star what matters.
- Talk your day and let Yoodoo place it around your meetings.
- Block your phone for the hours you want back.
Keep Motion for team projects if work needs it. Use Yoodoo for the day you’re actually living. When it slips, tap Fix my day.
